The design directive from our client was to create an interior that is reminiscent of a Pre-War Park Avenue apartment. Our canvas was a 7,000 square foot white box in the penthouse of a new building in the Midwest. White oak flooring, millwork, and cabinets were stained in a classic hue. Great attention was paid to such details as the built-up molding profiles, the hand-crafted Motawi tiles at the fireplace surrounds and hearths, the bronze door and cabinet hardware, and the tile work at the laundry and bathrooms. Many existing furniture pieces were maintained and reupholstered. Their extensive art collection was reimagined in the new space. The result is a classically appointed, warm and comfortable apartment that feels as is if it has been here for decades--just what our clients wanted.
